Vegan Products

I’ll start off with this: a vegan product can be “wow”. It can have taste, colour, flavours, everything. It can be perfect. It doesn’t need meat, eggs or cheese.

We have some on our menu that we have worked hard for, we struggled, we tested for weeks. Surely, if you have ever been at DOT you were intrigued by our toast with cashew cheese and vegan salmon. They say it’s so good that even Cipri eats it (he is our colleague that can’t survive without meat at every meal).

Let’s start with the cashew cheese. You pick a good cashew, from a recommended source.

We didn’t stop here. You take some carrots, you wash them well, you peel them a bit, you put them in a tray, you cover them up in salt and you bake them. After they are baked, you cut them by hand and marinate them in olive oil with smoked paprika. In the end, the carrot should have the texture, smell, taste and colour of smoked salmon. If you want an exact recipe, google carrot lox, there are hundreds of recipes. They are so good, we even use them for other non-vegan toasts.

Then we spread the cashew cheese on a slice of toast, we put some smoked carrots on top, we add green onion and some tomatoes and voila: spring on a plate!

What other vegan products do we have?

Well, let’s keep this a secret between us, but it is said that if you order a DOT (make your own DOT)  and you tell the bartender 3 times that you don’t want eggs on it, he can add instead of the eggs whatever you want with no cost: hummus, avocado, baby spinach, mushrooms, kale, tabbouleh, smoked carrots, all the vegan stuff.

Also a secret, if you tell the bartender that you want the hummus and smoked trout toast, without the trout, most times you will get it without the trout. Or, if you are creative, you can add whatever you want instead of the trout, but it has to work well.

Let’s move on to sweets. Who doesn’t love sweets with no meat, eggs, cheese or fish? You can trust our toasts with peanut butter or homemade Nutella. Both of them are similar to orgasms in a jar, from Nuts for Nuts.

We won’t burden you further with our vegan milk, made by us from walnuts, cashew and a bit of cinnamon, but the oatmeal with vegan milk is one of our favourite breakfasts.

And if you are gluten intolerant, we also have gluten-free bread. We swear.
